“I have had Jordan tutor all five of my children in different subjects over the last 4-5 years.  He has tutored my senior in college in Calculus and also my 6th/7th grader in elementary math. He is patient and very knowledgeable and has a way of teaching that has helped all of my kids become better, more confident students. I highly recommend Jordan as a tutor.”

Jeanne DeFeo, mother of five

"I feel so lucky to have found Jordan. My son had another and I was not satisfied with the results. I happened to be waiting at one of the tutoring sessions and saw Jordan with another client. I sat close to listen and was convinced I needed to switch tutors. My son started with Jordan the next week. He tutored my son for two years in math and I was very happy with the results. So much, that I called Jordan for my daughter when she needed help. He tutored her in Physics and AP Calculus. Jordan is gifted in his approach to tutoring students, in a way they have fun while engaging with math.”

Teresa Jackson, Mother of two

"Can't say enough about Jordan as a math/physics tutor! He helped my son with AP Physics 1 and 2 and with Calculus. He's helped my daughter with Algebra and Geometry/Trig. He's very flexible and responsive with scheduling and he even comes to your home which is so convenient. You can't go wrong hiring Jordan for all levels of math and/or science."

Katie Hood, mother of two

“Jordan began tutoring me in chemistry in high school and most recently helped me with my college calculus class. He is a great teacher and will not stop until you understand the material. He worked around my busy schedule and was always accommodating!”

Mimi Schaller, college freshman

About Me

I first fell in love with math back in 7th grade.

I was assigned math work that was challenging enough that I felt accomplished, but approachable enough that I could engage with it confidently. Since I was homeschooled, I was able to move quickly through my curriculum without having to slow down for my teacher or classmates. I completed two years worth of math curriculum in one year. I did hit some bumpy patches learning Algebra, but that did little to stifle my enjoyment of the subject in the long term. In fact, once I had mastered those difficult topics I gained even more confidence.

I was accepted at the University of Maryland to study Mathematics and Math Education. Throughout my college career and then again during my time student teaching, I realized that I really don’t like classrooms. Having seen another method of education in action, I had something to compare classroom learning against. I decided during my final year of school that I did not want to be a classroom teacher, but I still had a strong desire to become an educator. Soon after, I found my place working as a tutor.

Since then, I have had a wide array of tutoring experiences, including working with three different tutoring companies, a private high school, two special-needs high schools, a public high school, and even starting my own tutoring company. I ran the company successfully for three years employing several other tutors and serving hundreds of clients. These experiences, were each great in their own way and taught me many things, but they had many factors that took away from my true passion and specialty: explaining difficult concepts to people who wanted to understand them. I enjoy seeing people come to realize that they can understand math, and foster their own appreciation of the subject. That’s why I love tutoring: I can filter out most of the administrative work and just focus on working with individuals and small groups of students, doing what I love.

I have a bachelor degree in math, a master degree in education, was board certified to teach high school math in Maryland, and have over 12 years of tutoring experience in math, science, study skills, and test preparation.
